It seems that some MST3K-loving cable access TV types have created a loving tribute in the form of Mystery Spatula Theater 11. (The YouTube clip mentions their website.
Happily, there seems to be scads of original MST3K material on YouTube, including, at this writing, a full show.
This collection of Worst Album covers includes the LP "Can I Borrow A Feelin'?" And I thought that was a Kirk Van Houten song!
I expect to find the first LP by the 1960s German rock band The Tonics on one of these sites someday. It shows the band members jumping in a distrubingly crazy way.
Here's a link to the page on Upton's Universe where you can find mini-comics about a favourite comic character during my university days: Socialist Turtle by Vancouver cartoonist Colin Upton.
(I have a copy of his re-introduction in the January 1990 Discorder magazine which I am thinking of tacking by my desk at work, thus further befuddling my co-workers.)
Artist Upton recalls that the strip was "Mysteriously popular with kids." But Socialist Turtle is such a cuddly-looking agitator!
Now you can hear Lille Eris' Jeg Vil Ha Liten Hund (I Want A Little Dog!), the annoyingly oh-so-cute Norwegian hit of the 1960s immortalized on Incorrect Music, on YouTube here. Some teenager is lip-synching to the song.
(If only it was a video of Lille Eris from Norwegian TV.)
I think, though, that my mom will prefer this video of The Beatles performing I Want To Hold Your Hand on the Ed Sullivan show.
Some activists have posted a video game in which you operate a burger chain not dis-similar to McDonalds and have to do all sorts of politically incorrect things and be exploitative to win.
I'll bet that on some right-leaning sites, this game will be a hit amongst waggish bloggers playing tongue in cheek.
A new book, The Gospel According To The Beatles, explores the Fab Four's interaction with religion. An online excerpt speculates whether John Lennon was on the brink of becoming born again in 1977.
Somehow, I don't think that David Noebel will be asked to review the book, do you?
Who would be the soccer champions of the world if they were decided as boxing titles were? Soccer nerds have found, at the Unofficial Football World Championships website, that the might soccer power Georgia would be world champions--if titles were decided by defeating the previous champion. Given that countries such as the Dutch Antilles and Angola have held this unofficial fun title, Canadian soccer players should head to Georgia immediately!
If you listen to 1960's French teen idol Claude Francois singing Belles!Belles! Belles!, his 1962 hit cover--en Francais-of an Everly Brothers song, you might think it is a happy go lucky song, especially if you have seen the Scopitones footage of Claude doing the Twist in the snow while miming the song.
If you want to see the Scoptones video of the song, it's on YouTube.
Here is a tribute page about Alice & Ellen Kessler. They are twin sisters who played Vegas and did a cover version of "Johnny Angel" (?!?) on their way to becoming singing stars in Italy and Germany. Warning, English mangled freely!
Or you could try this Wikipedia entry in English, if you like.
Over the holidays, The Province newspaper interviewed Craig McAllister. No, you don't know who he is, but you do know his hand.
Mr. McAllister made The Burning Log, that video shown on TV stations as far away as New York state, which shows logs burning in a fireplace. That's his hand that you see poking at the logs and adding wood.
